X
and Y Intersection
By:
Aadel M Al-Mahdy
Engulfed
in his own thoughts, he lay down in the shade of one of the monuments. “How
could they be so late?” he wondered while watching the sun fighting the
creeping darkness. His eyes lingered around. A carcass at a distance made him
cover his nose and turn his face away. “Tough boys, working in such place“, he
wondered again, but then yelled, detecting a cloud of sand stirred by the
wheels of the survey vehicle, “Ah, there they are” and quickly sat on his rear
end watching the approaching vehicle. The vehicle stopped close by the survey
team tent and then the driver playfully blew the vehicle’s horn in an intermittent
manner announcing the arrival of the team. “Oh, boy, it is a relief to know you are safe”
he said while his ears were perking. But coming out of the car, the driver laughed
and patted him on the head, saying, “I told you not to worry. X and Y always
somehow, somewhere intersect”
He
answered, “Oh, ya, tough banana”, and then wagged his tail and barked happily
like no watch-dog ever did.
The
End
